Overview

Position: Major Gifts Intern                                         

Department: DHQ – Community Relations and Development               

Availability of Position: ASAP

Schedule: Temporary, Monday to Friday, up to 10 weeks          

Reporting Relationship: Director of Major Gifts

Salary/Grade: $17.00 per hour; 75, Non-Exempt         

 

Description of Position:          

The Major Gift Inter interacts with a vibrant Community Relations and Development team who is responsible for direct marketing, major gifts, foundation relations, gift planning, and marketing/communications. The Intern will work directly with the Director of Major Gifts.

Responsibilities

Duties:                      

  • Support Major Gifts team with donor correspondence.
  • Draft stewardship reports and acknowledgement letters for individual donors.
  • Work with other development department staff, Salvation Army Officers, and program staff, as needed, to complete stewardship projects.
  • Perform related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Coursework at college or university level in Communications, English, or another comparable discipline.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong writing, communications, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to take initiative.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must keep information in a confidential and secure manner.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meet the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153, including the PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of, and appreciation for, and support the Mission of The Salvation Army
