The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we are able to provide the financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives.

Function: The Materials Handler will work cooperatively with all personnel to ensure the safe and expeditious
movement of merchandise in and out of the warehouse, sorting room, and stores and will be responsible to
perform a wide variety of duties related to this process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Keep work area clean and in order at all times.
2. Ensure the safe and expeditious movement of merchandise in and out of warehouse in cooperation
with other warehouse personnel.
3. Do not allow any items to be set aside for any individual.
4. Do not allow any sales to be made from the warehouse or dock area.
5. Do not allow unauthorized personnel in the warehouse or dock area.
6. If asked to ride with Production Assistant, maintain complete and accurate records, i.e., delivery manifests and proper use of iPad with strict adherence to communication procedure and 10 codes.
7. You are a personal representative of The Salvation Army.
a) You are therefore to ensure that the “Manual for Production Assistants” is strictly followed.
Any problem in pickups should be reported immediately to the dispatcher.
b) Required to maintain a professional appearance in compliance with company dress code.
8. Responsible for loading and unloading of truck assigned and others as requested. Take proper care
to secure and safely handle goods and materials during loading and unloading. Blankets, ropes, etc.,
are to be used to:
a) Avoid excessive movement of material during transit.
b) Avoid breakage, scratching, or other damage.
c) Make optimum use of available space.
9. Provide assistance to Thrift Store personnel when delivering items to ensure proper placement and
location within the store (i.e. hampers to processing area, furniture placed properly on sales floor,
removal of trash, etc.)
10. This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult
Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries; an example of professional conduct, work habits,
and supervision (as directed by Supervisor).
11. Serve all customers and donors in a courteous and efficient manner.
12. Handle all donations with care.
13. Maintain the cleanliness of the dock, warehouse, bathrooms, sidewalks and parking areas daily.

14. Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
15. Bale ragouts and cardboard as assigned.
16. Assist as required with sorting room operation.
17. Cross train in all sorting room functions under the guidance of the Sorting Room Supervisor.
18. Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of sorting room area.
19. Categorize and box seasonal clothing, bric, and shoes.
20. Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.
21. Operate forklift as needed, after receiving proper training and certification, observing all safety
regulations.
22. Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor, Administrator, or other management.
