Schedule: Full Time- Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as
will be required in performance of duties or as requested to support the ongoing
operations of the Kroc Center.
Reporting Relationship: Education Ministry Director
Grade: 12 Status: Exempt Salary: $55,000.00
Position Description: The Performing Arts Manager (PAM) is a ministry position that requires the role to be filled by an active Salvationist Soldier who will supervise programming and usage of the Performing Arts Center, which includes developing and implementing daily afterschool music programs, focusing on brass, vocal, piano, dance, drama, musical theatre, and general music instruction. In addition, the PAM will plan, organize, and direct the Congregational Life Gospel Choir and Corps Brass Band, as well as provide piano accompaniment for Sunday Worship services, music groups, and, as needed, special events.
Requirements: Be an active Salvationist Soldier. Supervise performing arts programming, staff, and volunteers.
Develop and implement an after-school music program, focusing on brass, vocal, piano, creative arts, musical theatre and general music instruction. Interact with parents and students, encouraging involvement in the Congregational Life Ministry. Provide music, creative arts leadership and program development that aligns with the vision of the Salvation Army Eastern Territory. Serve as the Coordinator of the Let’s Play! program and other partnership initiatives. Assist the Education Ministry Director with the development of a summer music and arts initiatives that can run concurrently with the day camp schedule and provide leadership for the same, and also encourages involvement in Congregational Life Ministry. Assist in maintaining inventory of performing arts instruments, files, and equipment.
BA in music/music education or related field. Active Salvationist musician and willing to soldier at the Philadelphia Kroc Worship and Performing Arts Corps Community Center. 3-5 years’ experience in a classroom setting, including conducting orchestra, directing choirs, brass/marching bands, creative arts (theatre, drama, dance) etc. Must possess the ability to teach all levels and ages of music, as well as comfortable with group and individual instruction.
As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every three years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Must have a valid Driver’s License. Must understand and have an appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
