Overview

The Social Worker is responsible for the overall delivery and coordination of services for the homeless population residing at Kingsboro Mica Shelter. The Social Worker is responsible for interfacing with the New York City Department of Homeless Services Staff, shelter providers and relevant community-based organizations to enhance and ensure clients are in receipt of optimal care and service coordination.  They are responsible for leading a Clinical team made up of 3 case managers, 3 residential aides, and 1 peer specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading a Clinical Team working with up to 50 clients.
  • Report directly to the Supervisor – Social Services.
  • Responsible for supervising each case manager, residential aide, and peer specialist on their Clinical team.
  • Provides programmatic supervision to their clinical team to ensure implementation of policy and procedures and consistency of program goals.
  • Responsible for orientation of new clinical team employees as well as on-going staff development.
  • Evaluates designated employees as per agency policy and professional standards.
  • Meets periodically with Clinical Coordinator for Shelters, Supervisor - Social Services for Kingsboro and Program Director to ensure that professional input is understood and coordinated with other Shelter Programs.
  • Meet regularly with their team to discuss the clinical approach for individual clients and best practices. These meetings.
  • Monitors statistics of workers and provides statistics and reports to Program Director at designated periods and/or upon request.
  • Establishes and monitors a case tracking system on each client with the help of their Clinical team.
  • Monitors employee’s service delivery for each individual. 
  • Develops a format to measure achievement of milestones and target goals.
  • Maintains and assures confidentiality of all clients' case records.
  • Maintains a daily individual Case Manager report stating activities accomplished on a daily basis.
  • The actual process (case recording) will be documented and periodically reviewed to insure completion of goals as stated in the service plan.

Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work Degree from an accredited school of social work, with a current LMSW.
  • Three (3) years relevant post graduate social work experience in the field of Social Work and two years supervisory experience.
