To assist the Summer Camp Director in providing a safe, structured daily activity schedule for a group of eight to ten campers ages 5-12 years.

Responsibilities

  • Lead campers in craft, educational and recreational activities
  • Provide supervision to children on and off premises as needed
  • Act as a mediator and role model in helping children learn self control and problem solving
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are observed
  • Assist in meal distribution
  • Attend and participate in all required trainings, workshops, and information sessions as required
  • Maintain program fidelity at all times as required
  •  Participate in all other duties and activities as requested or assigned

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EXAMPLES

 

Level 1

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or technical school

 

No prior experience or training.

E.g. Laborers and Helpers (Seasonal, Janitorial, Housekeeping)

 

Level 2

Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school

 

One -two years of related experience.

E.g. Clerical, Intake, Resident Assistants, Drivers

 

Level 3

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or certificate.

 

Three to five years of related experience.

E.g. Social Worker, Case Worker, Program Manager, Coordinator

 

Level 4

Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent 

 

Five years related experience.

E.g. Program Manager/Director

 

Level 5

Doctoral degree (Ph. D.) or equivalent

 

Ten years related experience.

E.g. Executive, Director, Chief…

 

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

·         High School Diploma/GED

·         Desire and ability to work in a team environment

·         Desire and ability to work with children

·         Ability to communicate effectively with staff, campers and parents

·         Ability to assist or lead with the teaching of activities

·         Energetic, sense of humor, patient and self-control

·         Safety oriented at all times

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Usual Day Camp environment applies.    Willing and physically able to participate in indoor and outdoor activities outdoors to include swimming and various sport activities.  Able to swim, run, jump, bend, push, pull, and climb as necessary.

 

Individual must be willing to work additional hours as required. Position has both internal contacts within the organization and external contacts within the community, which require considerable tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.  The utmost of integrity is required to safeguard confidential proprietary information of the organization.
