Overview

Position: Learning Center Program Aide
Department:
Learning Center

Availability of Position:  Immediately

Supervises: Volunteers, Students

Schedule: Part Time - Monday to Thursday 3 P.M to 830 P.M. Friday 3 P.M. to 6 P.M. (25 hours), school year
Reporting Relationship:
Learning Center Director

Salary and Grade:  $9.00 per hour; 71 Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

This position involves assistance in learning programs and regular ongoing homework assistance when necessary to York City students.

Responsibilities

 


Description of Position:

Learn the approved curriculum/procedures for Learning Programs. Assist in running of Learning Programs: (developing/implementing lesson plans, maintain accurate records: attendance, notated lesson plans, assessments, communication logs, and supervise use of program supplies). Assist students with nightly homework following established procedures when needed. Assist with attendance records and data entry. Communicate regularly with the Learning Center Director. This includes individual meetings/observations, feedback on programs/students, and record keeping. Follow and enforce discipline policy of the Learning Center. Required to follow computer usage guidelines established by The Salvation Army and Learning Center Director. Maintain a clean working environment. Attend all trainings and staff meetings.

Qualifications

Requirements:                         

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year working with students in a learning environment
  • Strong interest in reading, math, science and technology
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Organizational Skills
  • Flexible
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to keep confidential information
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of the Salvation Army.
