Schedule: Full Time,40+ hours per week; evening and weekends may be required

Supervises:Volunteers, Bell Ringers
Salary and Grade: $52,000.00 per year; 11 Exempt

The Business Development Associate (BDA), under the direction of the Corps Officers, works to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the Carlisle Salvation Army. This includes: actively seeking and applying for grants to support various areas of programing, working with the Corps Officer to prepare the annual United Way funding application and semiannual program updates. The BDA will also Work with the Corps Officers & Centralized Accountant to prepare and to help track and evaluate the annual budget. The BDA provides financial analysis of various departments as requested. Maintains a careful watch on grant income/expenses using accounting tools to monitor that funds are applied and expended in accordance with the funders specification. Working with the Corps Officers to establish and maintain the annual operations and events calendar for the Corps. Preparing and follow up on employee documentation and HR related needs for the Corps. The BDA works with the Development Committee on improving existing and identifying new fundraising events. Works with Corps officers to secure volunteers, hire bell ringers, and establish relationships with kettle locations for the Red Kettle effort.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business required – with a concentration in Accounting helpful. Must have at least three years prior supervisor experience. Must have a full working knowledge of all accounting functions (A/P, A/R, financial and cost accounting, budgeting). Must be willing to learn the intricacies of Salvation Army accounting standards and regulations, to include the Shelby Accounting System. Master’s Degree may be helpful. Must have a general knowledge of Salvation Army programs and ministries or be willing to learn. Prior experience in nonprofit management and/or fund accounting will be helpful. Must be able to keep confidential data related to clients/residents, employee, officers and Salvation Army finance records. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
