STATUS:              Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE:        Part Time
FUNCTION:        This worker will serve as part of the Kroc Fitness team. They will work in a way that provides a supportive environment in order to promote Christian faith and                                  value in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army. They will be role models for children and youth, mentoring in appropriate ways. They will act as                                          facilitators of healthy lives.

Responsibilities

General:
•Display good character and be passionate about impacting others’ lives through the realm of fitness.

•Use excellent communication skills to work positively with different populations and build rapport with clients

•Ensure that fitness sessions meet current certificate standards.

•Ensure that a safe and healthy environment exists for participants

•Arrive to teach session in advance of the scheduled time in order to greet participants, answer questions and address concerns (Up to 15 minutes before session)

•Share any applicable educational information with client.

•Give the Fitness Supervisor advance notice if unable to teach a session.

•Motivate participants to reach their fitness goals

•Keep up to date on safety and fitness trends

•Keep track of client sessions if they purchased multiple sessions.

•Make sure payment is collected prior to first session.

•Maintain certifications. Must be ASE, CSCS, ISSA, NASM, NSCA-CPT, AFPA, NFPT, FITOUR OR IFPA Certified.

•Will work some mornings, evening and weekend hours.

Equipment/Facility:
•Make sure that all equipment is set-up and ready to be used before session begins
•Is actively allowed up to 15 minutes prior to session to plan and ensure equipment is set up andis actively allowed up to 15 minutes after session to clean up and work with client to reserve nextsession.
•Evaluate, correct, and instruct clients on proper exercise techniques
•Evaluate, correct, and instruct clients on how to properly use the functional fitness/ Cardioequipment, and strength equipment
•Keep the Functional Fitness Area/Coaches room equipment clean and functioning properly
•Report any equipment/ facility problems to the Fitness Supervisor.
•Will clock out after 30 mins of schedule start time if there is a no show.

Administration:
•Work with the Fitness and Recreation management team to keep track / records of personaltraining participants.
•Maintain records of teaching plans for each client and what was accomplished in each session.
•All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Director of Recreation.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Certified or equivalent experience personal training.
2.Some experience in the field of fitness
3.Must be able to design and run a personalized program
4.Must be able work in a team environment
5.Must be safety conscious
6.Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly, in English
7.Must have the ability to work and relate well with individuals with varying needs
8.Must be able to handle difficult situations/confrontations in a professional manner
9.Must be able to work in a very active and physical environment
10.Must possess an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The SalvationArmy
