Overview

Position: Social Services Coordinator                                                                                      

Department: Lebanon, PA Corps, 1031 Guilford Street, Lebanon, PA 17046     

Availability of Position: Immediately  

Schedule: Full-Time; Monday -Friday; 7:00am – 3:00pm           

Reporting Relationship: Corps Officers          

Salary Grade: $14.00-$16.00 per hour, depending upon education and experience; 74 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Description of Position:

Familiarize yourself with the social service agencies in Lebanon County and the services they offer along with the qualifications to access each of the services offered.  Familiarize yourself with the mission and vision of the Lebanon Salvation Army. Financial Literacy Workshops & Nutrition Workshops. Recruit and train a pool of at least 10 volunteer and coordinate with the volunteer coordinator to secure the necessary clearances for all volunteers.  Maintain a monthly calendar coordinating and scheduling the volunteers work shifts assuring to have Spanish translation available for clients. Maintain the client appointment schedule ensuring that clients needing service are scheduled Tuesdays and Wednesday of every week.  Ensure that the social service coordinator has informational packets with all the necessary materials and websites to do a thorough job when assisting clients.  Ensure that all social services delivered are outcome based.  Ensure that all services and costs per service are documented for reporting purposes. Prepare reports for Social Services monthly statistics, United Way and other program supporting grants.  Ensure that all information is logged into the data base.  Ensure that all client file contents are kept in a uniform manner and kept in a secure location being mindful of confidentiality.   Ensure that all client dictation follows the same format across all files. Review client files at least once a month to ensure data is being captured correctly and content is being maintained in a uniform fashion and dictation is following the correct format. Coordinate the Second Harvest (food distribution) Food inventory, needed reporting, volunteer scheduling, and client registration, with the supervision of the Corps Officers.  Coordinate Senior Box Program, Registration, Recertification, Distribution of Senior Boxes, with the supervision of the Corps Officers. Work alongside with the officers, to coordinate the Angel Tree Program (Christmas Assistance Program): Registration & Distribution.  Attend networking meetings as assigned by the Commanding Officers; All speaking engagements or interviews with the media (newspapers & radio etc.) must be approved by the Commanding Officers. Maintain confidentiality of all Salvation Army records and client information. Maintain cleanliness and security of all corps equipment, facility, and grounds in area of responsibility. Other duties as requested by the Corps Officers.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred; Previous work/experience in Social Service/Casework. Maintains a consumer-friendly demeanor when working with internal and external publics. Establishes an effective working rapport with all other staff. Must be courteous to program participants and their families, volunteers, staff, and the public. Proficient knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Publisher).  Ability to communicate and interact well with officers and employees. Prefer a logical thinker who is detailed oriented. Demonstrate good computer and typing skills with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to work alone and with others.  Must be a self-starter.  Must have the ability to keep information in a confidential and secure fashion, and to use sound judgment working in an environment with multiple, changing work priorities, and under strict, unalterable deadlines. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar, as well as good verbal communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred.  Must possess a current, valid Driver’s License.  Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks:   PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
