SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position purpose is to provide Anew Center Residential and Non-residential clients with childcare for appointments and caregiver rest and support services (support services might include assisting with some children in the family while the mother/caregiver tends to another child in shelter, provide interactions and activities for families such as reading circles, trips or outings away from the shelter).

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct care and supervision to children of residential and non-residential clients of the Anew Center.
  • Provide direct care and supervision to children participating in the Children and Family Outreach Program.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing, while providing supportive services of participants children during designated activities such as reading circles, outings or trips and during Family Workshops.
  • Direct care such as tending to the children’s needs, diapering, feeding and monitoring.
  • Direct interactions and engagement, provide direction and guidance.
  • Record keeping, reporting to Child Protective Services.
  • develop and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Develop healthy relationships with children and families. Transport of children and families as directed by supervisors.
  • Must complete mandated reporter training.
  • Must know how to properly secure children in car seats.
  • Must complete domestic violence basics DV 101.
  • Must complete training and effects of child abuse, neglect and sexual abuse of children by the child advocacy program.
  • Other related tasks per supervisors.

Qualifications


SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Must have New York or Pennsylvania valid drivers license.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to push strollers.
• Must be able to properly secure children in car seats.
